Running - Lisbon Marathon
How and why did you get into this sport?
I’ve always loved being active, but during lockdown, I turned to running. At first, it was just a way to keep moving—a small act of normality when the world felt anything but. But soon I realised it was more than exercise. Running became my escape, my therapy, and my reminder that I could still push forward even when everything else had slowed down.
It wasn’t easy—in fact, it was brutally hard. But that’s what I loved about it. The sense of overcoming something hard was addictive. I kept going, drawn to the satisfaction of consistency and the quiet pride of clocking up miles week after week. Over time, I saw real progress, and when events finally became possible again, I signed up without hesitation.
What has been your biggest recent battle with training?
Balancing a full-time job with marathon training means fatigue is part of the deal. Lately, my biggest challenge has been running on tired legs after a long day at work—but there’s something deeply satisfying about pushing through and getting it done.
If we were to open your diary from the last week, what would it say?
I keep my journal entries simple. Last week I took inspiration from a friend and wrote ‘Progress not Perfection’.
