Current sporting discipline

Powerlifting competition, half marathon

How and why did you get into this sport?

Powerlifting- to feel strong & empowered within my body…Running- to challenge myself, strengthen my weaker area & strengthen my mind

What has been your biggest recent battle with training?

Trying to balance peaking for a powerlifting competition with maintaining some degree of running training. Both very different disciplines but I enjoy both. I have 2 events booked for back to back weekends - my first powerlifting competition in over 2 years, followed by a 10km race the weekend after. I had to choose one to prioritise and acknowledge the other discipline will take a bit of a hit.

If we were to open your diary from the last week, what would it say?

Just over a week out from the powerlifting competition, my body was peaked for strength and heavy with fatigue (workload was heavy at work too this week but we’d made some decent progress on current projects).
Plan was to run 14km on the Saturday to wrap up training for the week but my body felt cooked. The powerlifting competition was the priority at this point so we switched up the plan a little, going to Park Run instead and ticking off a more social, chilled 5km instead. Still a lil bit of running volume to work towards my goals but also adapted to what my body needed in that moment.
