Current sporting discipline
‘Hybrid Athlete’ - current goal is a sub 2 hour half marathon
How and why did you get into this sport?
After 20 years of bodybuilding and ending my last bulk at 135kg, I needed a new focus/goal as my health was not the greatest at that weight. I decided to try running and then eventually decided to become good at anything I put my mind to rather than just trying to excel at 1 sport.
What has been your biggest recent battle with training?
Relearning how to move. Bodybuilding is a very static sport. Simple planes of motion. Adding in plyometric movements, running etc has been a big hurdle, but I’m loving the process.
If we were to open your diary from the last week, what would it say?
I lift 3 x a week (currently lower/upper/full body split). I run 4 x a week and add in zone 2 cardio on the bike 2 x a week. I work a 9-5…which is more an 8-6.30/7. I play cricket on a Tuesday evening, have a wife, 2 teenage boys, 2 dogs and a cat… it’s a crazy juggling act, but we do the do regardless.
