How and why did you get into this sport?
Growing up, running was used as a form of punishment.
In my adult life, I never understood why I hated running, only to realise it was rooted in my childhood association with punishment. I had to unlearn what I had known all my life and start falling in love with it. It's been a huge mental battle, but we are getting there slowly. :)
What has been your biggest recent battle with training?
Marathon training was a huge commitment, especially as a first-time runner with no prior experience.
Having a training plan kept me consistent, and everything else was a matter of trial and error, I suppose.
If we were to open your diary from the last week, what would it say?
I have a pretty structured day every day of the week. Creature of habit, one would say. I guess one of the proudest moments for me would be finishing my first-ever marathon.
For a girl who used to hate running, sticking to her training plan and running across the finish line made me realise that we are all capable of doing hard things as long as we have the right mindset.
I hope to continue to keep running to remind myself how lucky we are to have an able body that allows us to move every day. :)
